初雪☆ First Snow☆

東京で今年初の雪が降りました～

今年は暖冬と言われ、暖かな年明けを迎えましたが、今日はとっても寒い一日になりました。

The first snow came down in Tokyo～

Although it had been warmer days since the new year began, it turned to be a really cold day today...

新年明けて、１週間経ちました！

On December 31st, it's New Year's Eve!

お客さんと一緒に年越しそばを食べ...

Ate noodle together with our guests.

初詣 The First Visit to a Shrine

皆様、あけましておめでとうございます！

Happy New Year!

さて、今回は参拝者数日本一を誇る明治神宮での初詣の様子を紹介したいと思います。

Today I will show you what "*Hatsumoude" is like in Meiji Jingu, which has the largest number of visitors in Japan every year.

*Hatsumoude: Japanese people visit a Shinto shrine to make first wishes for health and happiness in a new year



参拝の前にまずは手を清め・・・
Before paying a visit, people wash their hands.

いざお参り！
Let's go inside!

やっと門の前まで・・・

Finally I can enter...

門には今年の干支の申がいます。

This is the year of Monkey, according to the Chinese zodiac.

中には入りましたが、まだまだ並びます。あとちょっと！

Almost there!

キャビンの繁栄を願ってきました。

When you visit a shrine, there are some steps.

1. give a small offering.

2. bow twice and clap your hands twice.

3. put your hands together and pray.

4. bow again before you leave. 

お参りの後はおみくじを引きます。

After that, people try to draw a fortune.

出た数字の紙には、和歌が書いてあります。

You can read the poem on this paper.

英語版もあります。

There is English one as well.

最後にお守りも買いました！

You can also get a lucky charm!
